Your Engine

What’s Slowing Down Your Engine?
By Dr. Edward J Seward, D.C.

Do you ever wonder why the cycle of sickness continues in your body? Are you willing to accept the cascade of negative side-effects associated with prescription drug use? If you want exhilaration in your daily life, a fine-tuned mind and body, and full expression of life’s intricate treasures, read on.

Imagine a new 2004 BMW with an engine so powerful it can pass any other car on the road. The outside is dazzling as the wind flows over its stream-lined contours. Then, just as you put the pedal to the metal, what’s this? Why won’t it go faster? A governor has been affixed to the engine, and limits the cars potential to a mere 55mph. Ughhh!

Your body is an exquisite mastery of organic matter. The ultimate expression of your engine, or innate health potential, remains untapped if you have what modern science calls a subluxation.

A subluxation is a misalignment of two vertebrae which pinches or irritates the spaghetti-like nerves in-between, impeding the flow of vital information from the brain to the organs, muscles, and tissues of the body. It acts like a governor on your body’s engine. It’s simple; structure equals function. One or more subluxations prevent the flow of information from the brain to all parts of the body. It is a “governor” on your nervous system, causing the body to malfunction, which ultimately leads to disease.

So what causes subluxations? Physical trauma, birth trauma, exposure to toxic chemicals in our air, water and food, emotional stress, occupational trauma, and sports injuries to name just a few. Although the reasons differ, the stressful effects go directly to our master control system- the central nervous system. This system is made up of the brain, the spinal cord, and the nerves which branch out between each spinal bone. Any irritation to these nerves puts stress on the nerve system and interferes with one’s innate healing energy as it fuels the brain-body connection.

So who can check you for possible subluxations? Family Wellness Chiropractors are highly trained to detect and correct vertebral subluxations in anyone from infants to elderly. Chiropractors gently release nerve system interference by giving precise adjustments to the spine. Adults and children should be checked for subluxations even if they are symptom-free.

Family Chiropractic care is a natural, noninvasive, preventative form of healthcare which optimizes overall function, thus allowing your outside to dazzle and your engine to flow freely with innate power.
